RIYADH: The Saudi Film Commission has announced the activities accompanying Saudi Film Confex 2024, set to take place from October 9 to 12 in Riyadh, according to the Saudi News Agency (SPA).
The SPA reported that these activities will include interactive experiences, with the “Business Hub” being a main highlight. The space will also serve as a hub for inking agreements and forging partnerships among firms in the film industry.
Additionally, the “Consultation Platforms” will also offer specialized advice on various aspects of film production, from financing to production methods, and provide a platform for freelancers to register and connect with industry firms needing their expertise. The SPA maintained that an interactive activation will be available, giving visitors a hands-on experience in roles such as actors, directors, photographers, and other key positions within a film crew at the “On-Set Challenge.”
The “Film Talk” segment will also bring together prominent figures in the film industry to share their experiences, success stories as well as insights. Alongside this, an exhibition will showcase cutting-edge equipment used in aerial cinematography.
For younger attendees, the “Junior Filmmaker” zone will also provide kids with an engaging introduction to filmmaking via interactive and simplified activities. Moreover, the “Cinematic Arts” zone will offer insights into the art of makeup as well as costume design, showing the process of transforming a character from concept to screen.

Confex is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing together filmmaking experts, specialists, as well as a distinguished selection of local and international artists and producers. This 2nd edition will feature an exhibition representing over 16 key locations across the filmmaking value chain. It will also include a specialized conference with 30 panel discussions and fifteen workshops covering various aspects of the industry.
The accompanying activities are likely to significantly enhance the visitor experience, offering a deeper understanding of the film industry’s different aspects and shedding light on the untapped potential within this burgeoning sector.
