ISLAMABAD: The Saudi Embassy has lauded Pakistani workers in the Kingdom on Labour Day, calling them an integral part of the country’s workforce and reaffirming close ties.
“On the occasion of Labour Day, we take pride in our Pakistani working brothers in Saudi Arabia. We are brothers forever,” it said in a post on X.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share long-standing political, economic, and defence ties. The kingdom is home to more than two million Pakistani expatriates, whose remittances form a significant part of Pakistan’s foreign exchange inflows.
The two countries signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in September last year, under which aggression against either country would be treated as an attack on both.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also visited Saudi Arabia last month to strengthen bilateral ties, enhance economic cooperation, and discuss key regional security issues.
Saudi Arabia has also been a key economic partner for Pakistan, providing financial assistance, oil on deferred payment facilities, and investment commitments during times of economic stress.
The State Bank of Pakistan in April received US$ 1 billion from the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, completing a fresh $3 billion deposit arrangement that adds to an already extended $5 billion financial support facility.
