RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Sunday received a phone call from Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, where the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), during the call, they reviewed relations and opportunities to enhance them in various fields.
They also discussed the latest regional developments and a number of topics of mutual interest, it said.
It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia has always supported Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of enhancing stability and extending security in a manner that serves the interests of the Syrian people.
Earlier this month, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a phone call with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Al Shaibani, to discuss the latest developments in Syria.
“During the call, they discussed developments in Syria and the efforts being made in this regard,” a Saudi Foreign Ministry statement said.
The development comes after Syria’s Defence Ministry announced the temporary truce early Friday, effective from 3 a.m. local time, in the contested Aleppo neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Achrafieh, and Bani Zaid.
In August, 2025, Saudi Arabia and Syria signed an agreement to protect and promote mutual investments between both countries.
