RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a phone call on Monday, discussed regional developments in light of the “extremely dangerous military escalation”.

During the call, they also reviewed repercussions of the regional developments and international security, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

They also addressed the Iranian attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and other brotherly countries.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a written message from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov concerning bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation across various fields.

The message was delivered to Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji during a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh with the Russian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sergey Kozlov, the SPA reported.

The meeting also reviewed bilateral ties and addressed issues of mutual interest.

Saudi Arabia on Monday warned that recent Iranian strikes targeting Gulf States have undermined intensive Arab mediation and de-escalation efforts, posing a serious threat to regional stability and broader international peace.

Riyadh stressed that such actions risk reversing diplomatic progress aimed at easing tensions and restoring security across the region.

Representing the Arab Group at the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

In a statement delivered by Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen Bin Khothaila described the strikes as serious violations of international law, the UN Charter and the sovereignty of the affected states.
