JEDDAH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday held phone calls with the leaders of Turkey and Britain about developments in the region following the Israeli attack on Iran.
Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel early Saturday as part of “Operation True Promise 3,” in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities that resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian generals.
The missile attack came a day after Israeli strikes killed nearly 80 people in Iran, including high-ranking military officers, and injured over 300 civilians, according to Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani.
During a phone call, the Crown Prince and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reviewed developments in the region following the Israeli attack on Iran, which disrupted the ongoing dialogue to resolve the crisis, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The two sides emphasised the need to exert every effort to de-escalate tensions and exercise restraint, as well as the importance of returning to dialogue and resolving all disputes through diplomatic means.
The Crown Prince, in a separate phone call received from Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, discussed the latest developments in the region, including the repercussions of Israeli military operations against Iran, the SPA said.
They emphasised the importance of making every effort to de-escalate the situation and resolve differences through diplomatic means.
