Saudi Crown Prince Appoints King Saud University’s Board of Directors

JEDDAH:  Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has issued a Supreme Order to form King Saud University’s Board of Directors to transform the University into an independent non-profit academic institution under the auspices of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), Arab media reported on Tuesday.

Under the Supreme Order, Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan assumes the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, with the Minister of Human Resources serving as the Deputy Chairman.

The remaining members of the University’s Board of Directors include the Communications and Information Technology Minister, the Transport and Logistics Services Minister, the Industry and Mineral Resources Minister, the President of King Saud University, the President of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), Fahd Bin Abdulmohsen Al-Rasheed, the CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, the Governor of the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha’at), the CEO of Riyadh Non-Profit Foundation, the President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce, the representative of the Public Investment Fund, Salman bin Mutaib Al-Sudairi, Tal bin Hisham Nazer, and Jomana bint Rashid Al-Rashid.

On this important occasion, the Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, Al-Bunyan, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for issuing the Supreme Order to form the new board of directors for King Saud University and entrusting him with the position of head.

Furthermore, he commended the unwavering support of the wise leadership towards higher education in Saudi Arabia and reiterated the Board’s dedication to achieving an important advancement in the institution’s journey. This progress will be driven by the principles of empowerment, quality, and excellence, all while enhancing the research and education processes in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, SPA reported.
