RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and China on Sunday reaffirmed their comprehensive strategic partnership as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Riyadh, underscoring growing political, economic, and diplomatic coordination between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation across key sectors, while also exchanging views on regional and international issues of shared concern, reflecting the deepening alignment between Riyadh and Beijing, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The meeting was also attended from the Saudi side by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of State and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, and Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi.

The Chinese delegation included Chen Weizhen, Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, and Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Zhang Hua.

Wang Yi’s visit coincided with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and China.

During talks with Prince Faisal bin Farhan, both sides reviewed progress under the comprehensive strategic partnership, particularly in economic, trade, investment, and energy cooperation.

The two foreign ministers also co-chaired the fifth session of the Political Committee of the Saudi-Chinese High-Level Joint Committee, focusing on expanding cooperation across multiple fields and enhancing institutional coordination.

Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm commitment to the One China policy, affirming Beijing as the sole legitimate government of China and recognizing Taiwan as an integral part of Chinese territory.

The Chinese side expressed its support for developing and strengthening Saudi-Iranian relations and commended the Kingdom’s leading role and its efforts to achieve regional and international security and stability.

Beijing also commended Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation under Vision 2030 and welcomed the outcomes of the Riyadh Arab-Chinese Summit held in 2022.

Riyadh confirmed its support for China hosting the second China-Arab and Gulf-Chinese summits in 2026, while China expressed readiness to participate in Expo 2030 in the Kingdom.

Both sides reiterated support for a just resolution of the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and relevant UN resolutions.

The visit concluded with the signing of an agreement granting mutual visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports.

It may be recalled that in September, Saudi Arabia and China signed 42 investment agreements worth over $1.74 billion across advanced industries, smart vehicles, and energy.

The agreements, which include medical devices, equipment, and mineral resources, were signed at the Saudi-Chinese Business Forum in Beijing during Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef’s official visit.

Organised by the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the forum brought together around 200 companies, along with representatives from both the public and private sectors of Saudi Arabia and China, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
