RIYADH: A Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation team recently conducted successful transplant surgeries on 19 patients suffering from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).

These complex procedures are carried out in hospitals across Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates’ capital, Abu Dhabi.

The remarkable surgeries involved the transplantation of two hearts, one lung, five livers, a pancreas, and eleven kidneys. Notably, all the transplanted organs were generously donated by relatives of eight individuals.

These intricate and life-saving operations were performed at various medical facilities, including King Khalid General Hospital in Hafr Al-Batin, King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Jeddah, King Saud Medical City, the Saudi-German Hospital in Riyadh, Al-Mana Medical Center in the Eastern Region, and Cleveland Clinic and Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Talal Al-Qoufi, the Director-General of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, highlighted that the success of these surgeries resulted from seamless collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the process.
