Saudi Cabinet Urges Gaza Ceasefire Implementation, Backs Palestinian Statehood

RIYADH: The Saudi cabinet on Tuesday urged strict adherence to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, called for its full implementation, and stressed the need to advance a political process aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Cabinet formally endorsed the recent high-level diplomatic engagements led by Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, including calls with world leaders and visits by Turkish and German heads of state, highlighting their role in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing economic cooperation.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet for the Shura Council’s Affairs and Acting Minister of Media Issam bin Saeed stated that the Cabinet also reviewed regional developments, reiterating Saudi Arabia’s call for full adherence to and implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

It emphasised the need for progress toward a political solution that leads to an independent Palestinian state. Furthermore, the Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to the outcomes of the recent Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS meeting, hosted by the Kingdom, stressing the importance of sustained international action against cross-border terrorism.

The session praised the efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Syria, including the visit of a Saudi delegation to Damascus to launch strategic projects and contracts in the aviation, communications, water, industry, and education sectors, which will contribute to enhancing infrastructure and advancing economic growth in Syria.

The Cabinet praised the outcomes of the second edition of the AlUla Conference on Emerging Market Economies 2026, which was hosted by the Kingdom in partnership with the International Monetary Fund.

The conference focused on strengthening international cooperation, advancing economic and financial reforms, and empowering emerging economies to navigate global shifts in pursuit of inclusive and sustainable growth.

The Cabinet also welcomed the Kingdom’s election to the presidency of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Internal Auditors for the 2027–2028 term, viewing it as a reaffirmation of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with international organizations and enhancing its leadership role in the field.
