RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed the latest developments in the region and the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance security and stability in Yemen.
Chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the session also examined Saudi initiatives to encourage dialogue among all parties, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Saudi Cabinet reiterated its welcome of the request by President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh for all southern factions.
The conference aims to find a just solution to the southern issue that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the southern people.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, including the intensification of air, sea and land aid corridors to support the brotherly Palestinian people.
He said these efforts are being carried out under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s longstanding humanitarian role and its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
The Cabinet was also briefed on the contents of telephone calls received by Prince Mohammed from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The discussions covered relations between Saudi Arabia and the respective countries, as well as regional and international developments, SPA said.
On domestic affairs, the Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its position in advanced technologies and developing an integrated digital ecosystem that boosts the competitiveness of the national economy and attracts investment, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of building a sustainable, data- and artificial intelligence-driven economy.
The Cabinet also welcomed the launch in Riyadh of the world’s largest government data centre project, “Hexagon,” describing it as a major strategic milestone that enhances the Kingdom’s standing as a global hub in the sector, ensures data sovereignty and security, and supports innovation and the growth of the digital economy.
