Saudi Cabinet Lauds Selection of Finance Minister to Chair IMF Committee

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Cabinet, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, commended the appointment of the Saudi Minister of Finance as the Chair of the IMF International Monetary and Financial Committee. The Cabinet also celebrated the Kingdom’s election as a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, affirming its prominent role on the global stage.

In addition, the Cabinet expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Emir of Kuwait, acknowledging his legacy and accomplishments. The Cabinet extended congratulations to Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on assuming leadership of Kuwait.

The Cabinet lauded the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s efforts in securing the bid to host Expo 2030, reflecting the Kingdom’s influential role and international standing. The Cabinet expressed gratitude to the voting countries and hoped for global participation in the event, showcasing progress under Saudi Vision 2030.

Furthermore, the Cabinet reviewed the Crown Prince’s official visit to Qatar, emphasizing the strong fraternal relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries. The outcome of the seventh Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council and various agreements were commended.

Regarding the 44th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council, the Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing collective efforts, promoting integration, and fostering coordination among member states. The importance of developing partnerships with the international community was emphasized.

Saudi Cabinet Reviews Global Efforts, Applauds Success in Hosting Expo 2030

The Cabinet praised the outcomes of visits from the presidents of Brazil and Russia, highlighting the strong relations and commitment to cooperation. Efforts to address international challenges and support peace and stability in the region and the world were underscored.

Regarding the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, the Cabinet discussed the Kingdom’s political and humanitarian efforts to stop the aggression, protect civilians, and provide assistance to the Palestinian people.

International meetings hosted by the Kingdom were also reviewed, particularly the International Labor Market Conference, which resulted in about 80 agreements and memoranda of understanding in the labor sector.

Several memoranda of understanding were approved for cooperation in energy, political consultations, economic fields, and tourism with countries such as Austria, the Philippines, India, Japan, Montenegro, and Bangladesh.

The Cabinet called for the establishment of the Saudi Commission for Electronic Games and Sports and approved 2024 as the Year of Camels. Additionally, a decision was made to raise the target of local content in the Road Sector Strategy to 70% by 2030, aligning with the Saudi Nationalization Scheme.
