MAKKAH: Saudi Border Guard search and rescue teams, in coordination with the National Centre for Wildlife, returned a dolphin to the sea after it was washed ashore in Al-Qunfudhah Governorate, Makkah Region, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

The Border Guard has called on beachgoers to help protect the marine environment and report any similar incidents. In Makkah, Madinah, and the Eastern regions, reports can be made by calling 911, while in other parts of Saudi Arabia, the number to dial is 994.

In February this year, a dolphin was spotted swimming near Ras Mohaisen beach, a popular destination in the Makkah region.

Local fishermen believe the calm waters of the beach attract dolphins and provide them with a peaceful environment.

The Red Sea is home to a diverse array of marine life, making its beaches attractive to tourists worldwide. These rich ecosystems draw thousands of visitors annually, eager to dive and explore the underwater world.
