ABHA: Aseer Region is experiencing a significant influx of tourists and visitors this summer, drawn by its renowned seasonal fruits, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The SPA reported that these fruits, celebrated for their delicious taste, high nutritional value, and abundant variety, are a major highlight in local markets across the region.

Aseer’s seasonal bounty is harvested from rural farms and orchards scattered across its villages and governorates, especially in the mountainous areas.

Tourists can easily find these fresh fruits at designated sales points conveniently located along popular routes leading to various parks, where they are offered at reasonable prices.

Strawberries and prickly pears

The region is particularly famous for producing a wide array of fruits, including grapes, pomegranates, figs, apricots, peaches, mangoes, guava, almonds, bananas, apples, prickly pears, strawberries, and berries.

Annual production sees a significant increase thanks to the fertile soil, ample water resources, and moderate year-round weather.

Agricultural boom

This agricultural boom is also attributed to the extensive expertise of local farmers and marketers, coupled with the comprehensive support from the Saudi government, the SPA added.

This support includes agricultural loans, services, guidance, and assistance with product marketing both within and outside the region, which has further boosted agricultural investments by specialised companies.

To further attract visitors, governorates and centers within the region organise vibrant seasonal festivals dedicated to specific fruits, with notable examples including pomegranates, figs, and grapes.

These festivals entice tourists and vacationers eager to purchase fresh fruit and savor its natural flavor, making it a key part of their overall tourism experience in Aseer.
