Saudi Arabia Wins Women Empowerment Award in Technical Sector

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has secured first position and the Women Empowerment Award in the technical field, Saudi Press Gency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

According to the SPA, the award presented by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was announced on the sidelines of the Digital Government Forum 2023.

The achievement shows Saudi Arabi’s efforts in enhancing the role and empowerment of women across various sectors.

It also underlines belief in women’s capabilities and their effective contribution to achieve goals aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030.

The award recognizes the ministry’s efforts and its excellence in the journey of women’s empowerment following a qualitative leap.

The empowerment of women in Saudi Arabia’s technical sector has witnessed a remarkable increase, with the participation rate for Saudi females rising from 7% in 2018 to 35% in 2023, a level higher than European Union, the Group of Twenty (G20), and Silicon Valley.
