RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday welcomed the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan in Gaza and US President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding the establishment of the peace council.
Chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the session also praised the initiation of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The session expressed appreciation for international efforts for the establishment of peace in Gaza.
The Cabinet stressed the importance of stabilising the ceasefire, preventing violations in Gaza, ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid, and enabling the Palestinian National Authority to resume its duties.
These measures are aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving an independent Palestinian state in line with United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the principle of a two-state solution.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet praised the Kingdom’s support for the ceasefire agreement and the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian state.
The Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening civil peace, safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and advancing the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.
The Cabinet also reviewed ongoing efforts to end the Yemeni crisis and continue addressing the future of the southern issue through the Riyadh conference, aiming to reach a comprehensive vision for just and sustainable solutions.
The Session noted that Saudi Arabia’s launch of a series of development projects and programmes across various Yemeni governorates underscores its ongoing support for the brotherly Yemeni people.
These initiatives aim to enhance security and stability while improving living conditions across all levels.
The Minister added that the Cabinet reviewed the latest developments in strengthening the Kingdom’s economic partnerships, highlighting the success of the fifth edition of the Future Minerals Forum held in Riyadh.
