JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth have reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional peace and international security.
During a phone conversation, the two sides discussed strengthening strategic cooperation and exchanged views on the latest regional developments, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia has separately hosted talks between the US and Russia and the US and Ukraine to find a solution to end the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
According to Arab News, after talks the US administration has agreed to lift its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, and Kyiv has signalled that it is open to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, pending Moscow’s agreement.
These talks were part of the Kingdom’s efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, thanks to its balanced relationships with various stakeholders and its commitment to promoting international security and peace, said the SPA.
Last month Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid visited the US to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Washington and Riyadh, as well as to address mutual areas of interest.
During a meeting with US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, he discussed strengthening military and defence cooperation and reviewed regional and international developments.
Discussions focused on strengthening military and defence cooperation and reviewing regional and international developments, along with efforts to promote security and stability.
