RIYADH: The Saudi Aid Agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has laid the foundation for a kidney dialysis centre in Yemen.

The medical facility to be constructed in Daw’an District in Hadramout Governorate is expected to directly benefit 49 individuals and indirectly benefit 79,545 others through improved access to healthcare services in the region, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

It will provide dialysis services to patients with chronic kidney failure.

The facility, spanning 1,120 square meters, will be built in accordance with the latest medical and engineering standards.

This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, implemented through KSrelief, to strengthen the health sector in Yemen, alleviate suffering, and improve the overall well-being of communities in need.

Meanwhile, the KSrelief has concluded its volunteer medical project for cardiac surgery and catheterization in the Mukalla District of Hadhramout Governorate, Yemen.

The initiative, held from October 25 to November 1, brought together a team of 15 volunteers from various medical specialties to provide advanced cardiac care to patients, the SPA reported.

The center’s volunteer medical team conducted 33 open-heart surgeries, 80 interventional cardiac catheterizations, and 18 diagnostic catheterizations.
