Saudi Arabia to Participate in Chemical Weapons Summit

HAGUE: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating in the 28th Conference of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention, taking place in The Hague from November 27 to December 1, 2023, reported Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Ambassador to the Netherlands and the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ziad bin Maashi Al-Atiyah, is leading the Kingdom delegation.

Al-Atiyah emphasized Saudi Arabia’s dedication to enhancing international cooperation for the prohibition of all weapons of mass destruction, aiming to prevent their proliferation.

He reiterated the Kingdom’s advocacy for establishing the Middle East as a region free from such weapons. Furthermore, Al-Atiyah emphasized the pivotal role of the Chemical Weapons Convention in global efforts to ban weapons of mass destruction, underscoring its contribution to international peace and security.

Chemical Weapons Summit

During the conference, Al-Atiyah expressed Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. He criticized Israel’s blatant violation of international law, highlighting the severe damage it has inflicted on the credibility of the international community and humanity’s trust in a law-governed global society.

Al-Atiyah underscored the urgency of implementing an immediate ceasefire and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
