RIYADH: Saudi Arabia summoned Iranian Ambassador Ali Reza Enayati on Sunday following the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom and several Gulf nations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Engineer Waleed Al-Khuraiji delivered the Kingdom’s formal response during the meeting, conveying Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attacks on its territory and neighbouring Gulf states, according to the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

Al-Khuraiji emphasised Saudi Arabia’s categorical rejection of violations of state sovereignty that undermine regional security and stability.

He reaffirmed that the Kingdom will take all necessary measures to defend its security and protect its territory.

Earlier, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman held separate telephone conversations on Sunday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to discuss the ongoing military escalation in the region and its implications for regional and global security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The US and Israel launched an attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several top officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes that hit several Gulf countries.
