RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Tuesday strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex by Israeli officials and settlers under the protection of Israeli forces on Monday.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry in a statement reiterated its condemnation of the continued flagrant violations of international law and brutal attacks on the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On Monday, large crowds of Israelis marched through Jerusalem’s Old City as part of the annual Jerusalem Day celebrations, marking Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

The event saw tensions flare as some participants clashed with local residents and shouted insults at Palestinians.

In a provocative move, far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound—revered by Jews as the Temple Mount—to mark the occasion, further inflaming the already tense atmosphere.

Saudi Foreign ministry affirmed Kingdom’s categorical rejection of anything that undermines the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Saudi Arabia called on the international community to hold Israeli authorities accountable for their ongoing violations against Islamic holy sites and innocent civilians in Palestine.
