RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has shut down the East-West Oil Pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions as a precaution after it was subjected to multiple attacks on Thursday morning, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing an official source at the Ministry of Energy.
The pipeline was shut down as a precautionary measure. The attacks resulted in a number of injuries, and medical care was provided to those affected, according to SPA.
The source, cited by SPA, said emergency and specialised technical teams responded immediately following the attacks, taking the necessary measures to secure the pipeline and assess its safety in line with approved safety procedures and emergency response plans, in coordination with the relevant authorities. Any further developments will be announced in due course, SPA said.

Saudi Arabia urges UNSC to adopt clear stance on Houthi attacks
Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the terrorist and criminal attacks launched by the Houthi militia against civilian and economic facilities in the Kingdom cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, which injured 73 civilians, including women and children.
This came in a speech delivered by Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil during an emergency session of the UN Security Council convened to discuss the Houthi militia’s attacks against the Kingdom.
Saudi Ambassador Alwasil warned of the seriousness of the Houthi escalation and its repercussions for regional security. He stressed that the attacks threaten not only the Kingdom’s security, citizens, and assets, but also international navigation and trade in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He called on the UN Security Council to adopt a clear, firm stance on these attacks and fulfil its responsibility to maintain international peace and security.
He also stressed the need to ensure the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions and to halt all forms of support that enable the Houthi militia to continue its hostile actions and attacks, which threaten regional security and international shipping lanes.
Ambassador Alwasil reaffirmed the Kingdom’s legitimate right to defend itself and protect its security, sovereignty, citizens, residents, and national assets, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
He further reaffirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast position regarding the Republic of Yemen, based on preserving its unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He emphasised the Kingdom’s continued support for a comprehensive, sustainable, Yemeni-led political solution to the Yemeni crisis that achieves security and stability and fulfils the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
On Wednesday, spokesman for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen (Coalition Forces), Major General Turki Al-Malki, said that terrorist Houthi militia attacks on the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran injured 73 civilians, including women and children.
Major General Al-Malki explained that the continuation of these attacks demonstrates the terrorist Houthi militia’s approach and extremist ideology regarding escalation and the targeting of civilians within the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Houthi militia attacks against Saudi cities
On Wednesday, the Houthi militia launched attacks against the Kingdom’s cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Jazan using ballistic missiles and drones, SPA reported.
Major General Al-Malki confirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will respond to these attacks responsibly to protect the Kingdom’s sovereignty and national assets, as well as to safeguard civilians and civilian assets from these heinous acts.
This response will be conducted in accordance with the principle of self-defence pursuant to international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter and in compliance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, according to SPA.

On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet condemned the Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, describing them as heinous acts of aggression.
The Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom’s right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens and residents, while rejecting attacks by the Houthi militia on commercial vessels and international maritime navigation in the Red Sea, SPA reported.
