RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers, headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, convened its weekly session on Tuesday and renewed the Kingdom’s condemnation of attacks on Islamic sanctities in Sweden and Denmark.
The Cabinet strongly reiterated Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of the recent burnings of the Holy Qur’an copies in Sweden and Denmark, denouncing them as flagrant violations of laws and customs and a direct contradiction to international efforts aimed at promoting values of tolerance and moderation.
During the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s participation in Italy’s international conference on migration held on Sunday, where Riyadh expressed support for joint UN efforts to address security challenges posed by migration crises. The Cabinet called upon the international community to stand in solidarity and cooperate on these issues.
Representing the Crown Prince at the conference in Rome was Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif.
The Cabinet also praised the outcomes of the 18th Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries summit held in Jeddah, which contributed to strengthening joint Gulf action on regional and international security efforts of global concern.
Saudi Arabia’s Role in Combatting Climate Change
Furthermore, the Council of Ministers commended Saudi Arabia’s active international involvement in combatting climate change, showcasing various efforts to reduce emissions, diversify the energy mix, and promote the use of clean technologies.
The Kingdom recently participated in the UN High-level Political Forum 2023 held in New York from July 10-19 to work towards achieving sustainable development goals. During the forum, Saudi Arabia highlighted its Vision 2030 initiatives, focusing on human development, healthcare, and economic diversification.
The Cabinet approved several memorandums of understanding, including one between the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia and the Tax Office of Australia regarding tax management. Another MoU between the Radio and Television Authority and the China Media Group was approved for cooperation in radio and television fields.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved an MoU on combating terrorism and its financing between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Other topics discussed during the meeting included potential investments through the Saudi Public Investment Fund in Iraq and agreements regarding health requirements for exporting products from Saudi Arabia to China.
The Cabinet also authorized the Saudi Ministry of Investment to sign a draft agreement with Djibouti on mutual encouragement and protection of investment, and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services to sign an agreement with the government of Barbados in the area of air transport services. Furthermore, Badr bin Abdullah Al-Dulami was assigned to carry out the work of the CEO of the Public Authority for Roads.
