RIYADH:  Saudi Arabia has achieved significant gains in the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Service Coverage Index, strengthening its standing among the world’s top-performing nations in healthcare, according to the latest data from the World Health Organisation and the World Bank.

The Kingdom scored 83 points in the most recent UHC update, reflecting a nine-point rise over two years and positioning it among countries with high-level health service coverage. This consistent improvement highlights two decades of sustained progress and underscores the impact of the Health Sector Transformation Programme under Saudi Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia’s Health Sector Transformation under Vision 2030 has prioritised prevention, strengthened primary care, and leveraged digital tools such as Sehhaty and Seha Virtual Hospital to expand healthcare access.

Life expectancy has risen from 74 years in 2016 to 79.7 years in 2025, reflecting the effectiveness of integrated health programmes.

“Health Minister Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel stated that the progress demonstrates the concrete results of Vision 2030 and the ongoing support of the Kingdom’s leadership.”

He said: “The improvements we see today in international health indicators demonstrate the real impact of the Kingdom’s health transformation, which prioritizes prevention, primary care empowerment, and digital health solutions. Raising life expectancy to 79.7 years is the result of an integrated effort focused on improving people’s health and quality of life.”

Saudi Arabia’s advancement in the UHC index enhances its position among G20 nations and highlights the Kingdom’s dedication to creating an efficient, resilient, and sustainable health system centered on the well-being of its people.
