RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has disbursed $346.6 million (1.3 billion SAR) to cover the significant shortfall in salaries for Yemeni government employees.
The payment, ordered by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was delivered through the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY).
In a statement on its X account, the SDRPY described it as part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to promote stability and development in Yemen.

The initiative aims to strengthen economic, financial and monetary stability in Yemen, enhance government institutional capacity, improve governance and transparency, and enable the private sector to drive sustainable economic growth.
Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi thanked the Saudi leadership, describing the support as an extension of the Kingdom’s longstanding assistance to the Yemeni people.
He said the payment sends a message of confidence in Yemen’s recovery path and the government’s ability to strengthen national institutions and reinforce security.
Al-Alimi added that Yemen’s partnership with Saudi Arabia represents an important choice for a more stable future.
He called for unified efforts to support institutional reconstruction, improve living conditions, and advance economic and social development.
