Saudi Arabia Participates in Paris Conference on Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

PARIS: Saudi Arabia has participated in the high-profile Paris International Conference to Assist Civilians in Gaza, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Friday.

Dr. Aqeel bin Jumaan Al-Ghamdi, Assistant General Supervisor for Planning and Development at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), led the Saudi delegation at the conference.

In his address to the conference, Al-Ghamdi hailed the initiative to hold a conference addressing the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and expressed the Kingdom’s gratitude for France’s efforts to tackle the unprecedented suffering of civilians in Gaza.

He emphasized the need for mechanisms ensuring the swift entry of food and pharmaceutical supplies and the restoration of energy in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Ghamdi stated, “We are meeting today to revive hope in the souls of our affected brothers in Gaza Strip, who have experienced bitter pain over an entire month, and to share the burden of legal and moral responsibility dictated by our humanitarian values and principles.”

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in response to the humanitarian disaster, launched a national campaign that has collected over $115 million to date, with the campaign ongoing, said Al-Ghamdi.

Apart from its humanitarian responsibility, he also highlighted the Kingdom’s development initiatives for the Palestinian people in collaboration with the United Nations and various international humanitarian organizations. He mentioned that the Kingdom’s development and humanitarian efforts include the implementation of 274 projects worth over $5 billion, with KSrelief alone executing 112 projects valued at approximately $370 million.

Al-Ghamdi stressed Saudi Arabia’s call for sustained efforts to alleviate the consequences of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of upholding international humanitarian law, protecting civilians, and delivering aid to those in need.
