RIYADH: The Saudi aid agency, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, has opened a gynecology and obstetrics clinic at the Patient Friends Benevolent Society Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Founded in 1980, the hospital in the Al‑Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City is one of the few hospitals still operating amid devastating Israeli strikes during the ongoing war with Hamas that began in October 2023.
KSrelief opened the clinic on Wednesday in cooperation with the UN Population Fund, which works to improve reproductive and maternal health worldwide, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The programme is part of Saudi efforts to support the Palestinian people and help improve and maintain the healthcare services available to them.
Saudi Arabia on Thursday delivered $30 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority, the latest installment in its ongoing 2025 support.
The funds, handed over in Amman to Palestine’s Finance Minister Omar Al‑Bitar by Saudi Arabia’s Acting Chargé d’ Affaires Mohammed Mounis, are instrumental in sustaining key public services.
This contribution is part of a broader Saudi aid package that has topped $5.3 billion over recent years to support Palestinian humanitarian and development needs.
