JEDDAH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday met with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi and discussed bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states in Jeddah, focusing on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations. They explored ways to enhance them, as well as addressed regional and international developments, particularly the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and related efforts.

Meanwhile, Prince Faisal bin Farhan also held separate meetings with Egyptian, Syrian, Iraqi, Nigerian, and Gambian counterparts.

During the meetings, the developments in the Gaza Strip and their repercussions on regional security, as well as ongoing efforts to deliver urgent humanitarian aid, came under discussion.

Earlier, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, addressing the OIC session, said that Israel’s ongoing violations are hindering international efforts to achieve a two-state solution.

The Saudi Foreign Minister added that an increasing number of countries are supporting the Kingdom’s international initiative to recognise Palestinian statehood.

“The number of countries that have decided to recognize a Palestinian state is steadily increasing,” Prince Faisal said.
