RIYADH: Saudi Arabia said its forces detected and destroyed four drones over the country’s eastern region, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, said two drones were successfully neutralised, while additional drones were also intercepted and brought down in separate incidents.

Saudi officials did not report casualties or damage, emphasising the effectiveness of the kingdom’s air defence systems in neutralising the threats before they could reach their targets.

Kuwait files ICAO complaint over airspace attacks

Meanwhile, Kuwait has lodged an official protest with the International Civil Aviation Organisation over  Iranian attacks targeting the country’s airspace and facilities at Kuwait International Airport.

In a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency on Sunday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the complaint emphasised that the incidents represented a serious violation of international civil aviation conventions, putting passengers, airline crews, and airport staff at considerable risk.

The authority added that the attacks disrupted air traffic operations, forcing the suspension of flights and causing significant financial losses to the aviation sector. It also warned that the incidents posed direct threats to passenger safety and critical infrastructure, with reports of injuries linked to the disruptions.

GCC slams Iran attacks on Gulf nations

Earlier, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Albudaiwi, strongly condemned the continued Iranian attacks on GCC member states.

He highlighted deliberate strikes on critical infrastructure and oil facilities as blatant violations of international law, posing a direct threat to both regional security and global energy stability, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Albudaiwi said the persistent attacks reflect an escalatory approach by the Iranian government toward the GCC states. He described the actions as unacceptable acts of aggression that undermine de-escalation efforts and endanger both regional and international security.
