JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has expressed hope that the ongoing High-Level International Conference on Palestine at the United Nations would contribute to accelerating the recognition of the State of Palestine while enhancing the security and stability of countries in the region.

It said the conference, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia in partnership with France, would establish a consensual path toward implementing the two-state solution, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held in Jeddah.

The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s welcome of the announcement by President Emmanuel Macron of France regarding his country’s intention to recognise the State of Palestine. It also called on other countries to take similar steps in support of peace and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The Cabinet was briefed on the recent talks and communications between Saudi Arabia and various countries, focusing on solidifying relations and advancing bilateral and multilateral coordination across diverse fields to achieve common interests and mutual benefits.

The Cabinet lauded the outcomes of the Saudi delegation’s visit to Syria. The visit, carried out under the directives of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Syria’s path toward economic growth.

It highlighted that the recent visit led to the signing of 47 investment agreements worth approximately SAR 24 billion across various sectors. Additionally, a joint business council was announced to strengthen cooperation and foster partnerships between private sector entities in both countries.

Following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary told the Saudi Press Agency that the Cabinet reviewed key regional and international developments, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to advancing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, promoting global security and stability, and ending the ongoing cycle of violence that has taken the lives of countless innocent civilians.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the Israeli Parliament’s call to impose control over the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley, stressing that such actions undermine peace efforts and reflect a persistence in sabotage and destruction.

It reiterated the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of the occupation authorities’ violations of international law and United Nations resolutions.
