RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s green building sector achieved a significant milestone in 2025, transitioning from technical design practices to a comprehensive, institutionalised framework guided by measurable performance indicators and strengthened by strategic partnerships.
Under the Saudi Green Building Forum’s SAAF conformity and specifications system, the Kingdom secured its position as a regional leader, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
It achieved the highest performance score of 76.31 points and certified more than 1.03 million square meters of sustainable building space, reflecting steady growth and enhanced regulatory standards across the sector.
This advancement is backed by a strong professional ecosystem that includes over 7,300 registered specialists and a cumulative total of 6,662 projects.
Collectively, these initiatives contribute to an annual reduction of approximately 62,800 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, reinforcing the sector’s environmental impact and commitment to climate responsibility.
Secretary-General of the of the Saudi Green Building Forum, Faisal Alfadl highlighted that the sector’s transformation—through the integration of renewable energy solutions, water efficiency systems, and environmentally responsible infrastructure—represents a strategic pathway toward achieving the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.
He emphasised that this progress not only strengthens sustainability standards but also supports the Kingdom’s broader economic and environmental objectives.
