ISLAMABAD: Saudi aid agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), on Wednesday dispatched a major emergency relief convoy to support families affected by recent flash floods and cloudbursts in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

The relief effort, initiated by Saudi Arabia, aims to provide urgent assistance to communities devastated by the natural disasters, state-run News agency APP reported.

A send-off ceremony was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Bin Said Al-Maliki; Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Rana Sana Ullah Khan; KSrelief Pakistan Director, Abdullah Al-Baqami; officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA); KP government representatives; and members of both national and international media.

The relief convoy comprises 10,000 Shelter Non-Food Item (NFI) Kits and 10,000 Food Packages. Each shelter kit includes vital supplies such as a shelter unit, solar panels with LED lights, two thermal blankets, plastic mats, a durable kitchen set, a water cooler, and antibacterial soap.

Meanwhile, each food package—carefully designed to meet the urgent nutritional needs of affected families—weighs 95 kilograms and contains wheat flour, sugar, lentils, and cooking oil.

Distribution of the aid will be carried out in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department (RR&SD), and KSrelief’s local implementing partners—the Hayat Foundation and the Peach and Development Organisation.

Authorities have emphasised that the distribution process will be conducted transparently and efficiently to ensure timely support reaches the most vulnerable communities.

The initiative highlights the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s enduring commitment to humanitarian support in Pakistan. KSrelief has implemented numerous projects in food security, health, shelter, education, and disaster response across the country, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the two nations.

The dispatch of this convoy marks another milestone in Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian partnership with Pakistan, offering urgent relief to families affected by the devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz on Monday also offered condolences to Pakistan over the devastating floods in the country’s north that have left hundreds dead and injured.

Torrential monsoon rains and flash floods have devastated Pakistan, killing 707 people since late June, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Monday.

The northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been hit the hardest, with 427 deaths reported amid flash floods, landslides, and house collapses.
