RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ bombing of the town of Koya in Syria, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of civilians.
The foreign ministry in a statement on Wednesday reiterated the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of the Israeli occupation authorities’ continued attempts to undermine the security and stability of Syria and the region through their blatant and repeated violations of relevant international laws.
“The Kingdom expresses its solidarity with Syria against this unjustified Israeli aggression and stresses the importance of the Security Council member states to fulfil their role, stand firmly and seriously against these ongoing Israeli attacks and violations in Syria and the region, and activate international accountability mechanisms,” it said.
Syrian authorities said the attack on the village of Koya killed at least 6 civilians.
The Syrian foreign ministry in a statement condemned “the continued Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, which saw a dangerous escalation in the village of Koya” in the southern Daraa province.
In Syria, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes on military sites since Islamist-led rebels overthrew Bashar al-Assad in December.
On Monday, during a visit to Jerusalem, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned that Israeli strikes on Syria and Lebanon were threatening to worsen the situation.
