RIAYDH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Palestine and Lebanon, reiterating its support for a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.
Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative, Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasel, speaking at the United Nations, also denounced Iranian attacks on civilian facilities and the resulting human and material damage, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
The Kingdom affirmed its rejection of any attempt to alter the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem and its Islamic holy sites. It also condemned illegal settlement activities for violating international law and undermining the prospects for peace.
Saudi Arabia stressed that achieving peace requires a ceasefire, preventing displacement, withdrawal from Gaza, and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a telephone call from Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres during which they discussed regional developments.
The two sides discussed avenues for cooperation as well as a range of regional and international developments of mutual interest, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
It may be recalled that Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for all diplomatic efforts to achieve global peace and stability.
