RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on the Saudi tanker Sidr while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in fatalities among the tanker’s crew.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday, also slammed the Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, affirming its full solidarity with the brotherly countries and its support for all measures they take to safeguard their security and sovereignty against any threat.
The ministry added that Saudi Arabia stresses the need to halt escalation and respect the security and safety of international navigation, the security of global energy supplies, the principles of good neighbourliness, the sovereignty of states, the Charter of the United Nations, and international law and norms.

Saudi Arabia also called on all parties to exercise restraint, halt escalation, respect international law, and return to negotiations and peaceful solutions, the ministry said.
GCC slams Iranian attack on Saudi tanker
Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, has also condemned the Iranian attack targeting the Saudi tanker (Sidr) as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in fatalities among the tanker’s crew.
In a statement, the GCC Secretary General noted that this Iranian attack constitutes a dangerous escalation and a grave violation of the principles of international law, as well as a direct threat to the security and safety of international maritime navigation, thereby exposing the region’s security and stability and global trade to serious risks.

He affirmed the GCC states’ support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to preserve its security.
Jordan condemns Iranian attack on Saudi tanker
Meanwhile, Jordan condemned an Iranian attack on a Saudi tanker as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz as “a flagrant violation of international law and a threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation.”
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs reaffirmed Jordan’s absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its full support for all measures it takes to protect its security, stability, and national resources.

US strikes Iran after attacks in Hormuz: US Military
The United States carried out fresh strikes against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday in response to attempted attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against US military personnel in the region, the US military said.
Today at 12 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran. The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.

US Central Command said the strikes began at 12:00 pm local time, or 1600 GMT. It said the action followed recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial vessels in the strategic waterway and American service members deployed in the region.

Trump warned that Iran would face another US attack “at a much harder and higher level” if it retaliated.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump also hinted at what he called “the biggest attack of them all”, saying it was “waiting in the wings” and that very little could be left of the Islamic Republic if it was carried out.
