RIYADH: Saudi security forces arrested around 14,821 illegal immigrants, border security, and labor laws in various regions of Saudi Arabia within a week.
Ministry of Interior said that the arrests were made during the joint field operations carried out by different security forces units across the country during the week from 8 to 14 December.
The arrests included 8817 violators of residency laws, 3879 violators of border security mechanisms, and 2125 violators of labor laws, while 676 people were arrested for violating the border rules of the Kingdom, Arab media reported.
Majority of immigrants are Yemenis
Among the arrested, 58 percent were Yemenis, 39 percent were Ethiopians, and 3 percent were from other countries. 98 people were caught after trying to exit the Kingdom illegally.
Another 24 people were involved in harboring and transporting violators of work and residency rules and were practicing cover-up activities.
Currently, a total of 45197 people are subjected to procedures for violating laws and regulations, of which 43099 are men, and 2098 are women.
Authorities referred 34755 people to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, 2355 were sent to complete their travel reservations, and 11305 people were immediately deported.
