RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and Syria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen health cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise in the digital health sector.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in Riyadh on Sunday by Fahad Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, the Saudi minister of health, and his Syrian counterpart, Musab Al-Ali, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

AlJalajel stated that the agreement aims to build a strong health system in Syria, improve access to services, enhance the efficiency of virtual healthcare, and strengthen prevention efforts.

Key areas of cooperation outlined in the agreement include strategic health planning, health system rehabilitation, public health and preventive care, clinical services, emergency and disaster management, e-health and digital transformation, international health issues, and healthcare investment.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) also emphasises training and capacity-building, including health programs, expert exchanges, and the organisation of conferences and workshops.

This agreement underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to regional and global health collaboration, while also highlighting its growing leadership in virtual healthcare and digital transformation—a contribution that aims to support the development of health systems worldwide.
