ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed three drones that attempted to target areas east of the capital Riyadh, according to an official statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Ministry of Defence spokesperson Major General Turki Al‑Maliki said the hostile drones were detected and neutralised by air defence units before reaching their intended targets.

The spokesperson confirmed that the aerial threats were successfully intercepted and destroyed in Riyadh’s eastern region, adding that no civilian injuries or material damage were reported following the operation.

Saudi authorities reiterated that the Kingdom’s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threats targeting its territory and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The statement said the armed forces maintain a high level of readiness to protect the Kingdom and deal decisively with hostile attempts that threaten security and stability.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already warned Iran of retaliation if such attacks are not stopped.

Separately, Iran has announced that it would not attack neighbours, unless their land is used for attacks on Iranian territories.
