RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian aid agency KSrelief has distributed more than 43 tons of food packages to 5,888 needy people displaced in Karari municipality, Khartoum state of Sudan.
In a statement, the agency said that the consignment is part of the Saudi food security support project for the year 2023.
The food aid depicts Kingdom’s continuing humanitarian and relief efforts to support the Sudanese people and end their miseries from the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
KSrelief also distributed nine tons of food packages to 1,473 people in the city of Capuchin in the River Nile state of Sudan. The aid agency has also started Saudi assistance for the Red Sea port of Sawak in Sudan via sea.
Sudanese get Saudi food aid
The new shipment, which was transported through 60 large refrigerated trucks from King Abdulaziz Port in Jeddah, comprised of essential medical equipment to help the people of Sudan who were facing challenging conditions.
KSrelief has launched a national campaign through the Sahem platform to support the Sudanese people. The agency has collected almost SR59 million ($16 million) from 328,000 donations in this regard.

The Saudi Aid agency has successfully completed 2,402 projects in 92 countries worth more than $6.2 billion with the support of 175 local, regional and global partners.
According to a recent KSrelief report, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, and Somalia are the countries that benefited from the Saudi agency’s projects.
