RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has provided food baskets and safe drinking water to thousands of displaced people in Yemen, signed an agreement to support education for 22,000 people and advanced agricultural initiatives to strengthen food security in Socotra.
In Lahj Governorate, KSrelief distributed 641 food baskets on Monday, benefiting 3,853 people from 641 recently displaced families, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

The distribution was part of the second phase of the emergency food interventions project in Yemen, aimed at meeting the food needs of displaced families and alleviating their suffering.
KSrelief also supplied safe drinking water to displaced people and affected host communities in several camps across Lahj Governorate on Tuesday, SPA reported.
The assistance benefited 3,976 people from 691 families as part of an emergency response project aimed at improving water access for displaced people.

In Abyan Governorate, KSrelief distributed 380 food baskets on Tuesday, benefiting 380 families comprising 2,081 individuals, as part of the emergency response project in Yemen, according to SPA.
The assistance is part of a series of relief and humanitarian projects and programmes implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to support vulnerable and affected communities and countries worldwide.

Meanwhile, KSrelief signed a cooperation agreement today with the Charity Committee for Orphans Care (Ensan) in Riyadh Region to implement an educational support project in Yemen.
The agreement was signed by KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programmes Engineer Ahmed Al-Baiz and Ensan Director General Mohammed Al-Muharib.

The project aims to help protect children’s right to education and reduce school dropout rates resulting from difficult economic conditions by supporting education in the governorates of Hadramout, Shabwah, Taiz, Hajjah, Marib, and Abyan, benefiting 22,000 individuals.
The agreement is an extension of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief efforts through KSrelief to support the education sector, improve living conditions for the most vulnerable groups, and enhance children’s opportunities to continue their education.
Meanwhile, KSrelief organised an introductory workshop on the farmer support project to enhance food security in Socotra Governorate of Yemen, with the participation of representatives from relevant entities.
The workshop outlined the project’s components, including agricultural land reclamation, the provision of modern irrigation networks and solar energy systems, and the construction of agricultural greenhouses.

The project also includes training 80 farmers in modern agricultural practices and value-added food processing, as well as reactivating three agricultural associations and strengthening their governance and marketing capabilities.
These efforts aim to develop the agricultural sector, strengthen agricultural associations, increase production efficiency, and improve the economic returns of crops, contributing to greater food security and improved livelihoods for farmers.
