ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Sargodha has issued arrest warrants for Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Omar Ayub as his party leaders remain engaged in legal battles.
Omar Ayub in a statement on X also confirmed that his warrants had been issued while slamming the authorities for trying to put him behind bars.
He added that bailable arrest warrants were issued by ATC Sargodha, but Mianwali Police and Islamabad Police teams came to his Islamabad residence to arrest him.
The PTI leader, whose party has refused to accept his resignation from the top office said the Federal Government and Punjab Government must be very desperate to arrest the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
Condemning the authorities further, he said that there is no rule of law in Pakistan adding that the party would continue its struggle until founder Imran Khan is released.
The PTI’s top leadership has been engaged in legal battles since the party’s ouster from the government in April 2022.
But the situation turned worse when the party workers attacked and ransacked state installations on May 9, when the party founder was arrested in a graft case. After that several leaders and workers of the PTI were arrested while others left the party.
