ISLAMABAD: Leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan is set to be made the new governor of Punjab province.
According to sources, President Asif Zardari will issue the notification of the appointment of the new governor on Friday night.
Khan told the media that his name has been finalized for the post of governor.
The PPP leader served as a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2013. He was also a minister in the cabinets of both Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Yousaf Raza Gillani.
He also served as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis during the last government.
Meanwhile PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi has been nominated for the post of governor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Kundi elected as an MNA from Dera Ismail Khan in 2008 also served as deputy speaker of the National Assembly till 2013.
