SEOUL, South Korea: Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the Perplexity TV App, the world’s first-ever television application powered by Perplexity AI, marking a major step forward in integrating generative artificial intelligence into home entertainment.
The launch expands Samsung’s Vision AI Companion ecosystem, offering users an advanced, conversational interface designed to simplify content discovery and everyday interactions through AI.
AI-powered search comes to TV
The Perplexity TV App provides a seamless, voice-enabled experience that allows users to search, learn, and explore entertainment directly from their television screens.
Powered by Perplexity’s AI engine, the app can answer general questions, plan activities, and provide personalised recommendations — from identifying films featuring a specific actor to suggesting travel itineraries or creating fantasy sports lineups.
“Curiosity can strike at any time. Perplexity’s mission is to serve the world’s curiosity by bridging the gap between traditional search and innovative AI-driven interfaces,” said Ryan Foutty, Vice President of Business at Perplexity.
The collaboration with Perplexity reinforces Samsung’s strategy of integrating advanced AI technologies into its consumer devices.
“The first-of-its-kind Perplexity AI-powered app, now available only on Samsung TVs, broadens our Vision AI Platform offering for a more unique and personalised user experience,” said Dan Glassman, Senior Director and Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics.
He added that the partnership reflects Samsung’s continued focus on innovation. “Samsung continually brings innovative and first-to-market experiences to our device owners, and this partnership with Perplexity is the latest example, delivering cutting-edge AI technology and redefining how Samsung owners interact with their TVs.”
Availability and features
The Perplexity TV App is currently available on all 2025 Samsung TV models and will soon be extended to 2023 and 2024 models through a forthcoming software update.
Users can access the app by selecting Launch from their Smart TV home screen.
For convenience, the app supports both voice commands and manual input through the on-screen or USB-connected keyboard.
Samsung is also offering customers a complimentary 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription, redeemable via a QR code displayed within the app.
