ISLAMABAD/SEOUL: Samsung Electronics Company of South Korea plans to increase chip production at its largest semiconductor plant next year, despite predictions of continued economic recession, revealed by a South Korean newspaper on Sunday.

This development by Samsung Electronics contrasts with the limiting the scale of investment announced by rival chipmaker companies amid the lowering demand for chips.

Significance of Samsung investment

Information Analysts have said that commitment of Samsung Electronics to investment plans will likely help boost the market share of memory chips and support its price value after the demand for memory chips recovers.

Samsung production development

According to media reports, Samsung Electronics also plans to expand its P3 factory in South Korea by developing a 12-inch wafers capacity for its DRAM electronic chips.

Samsung will also expand its plant with an additional 4-nanometre chip capability. The P3 chip technology, which started production of cutting-edge NAND flash memory chips this year, is Samsung’s largest chip manufacturing facility.
