LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer has announced the fixture and venue for the opening match of the 11th edition of the tournament, set to be played from March 26 to May 3.
Speaking to the media, Naseer confirmed that reigning champions Lahore Qalandars will face newcomers Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen in the tournament opener in Lahore. The opening ceremony will be staged prior to the match.
He further stated that Lahore will host the bulk of matches during the first leg of PSL 11, adding that the complete schedule will be released in the coming days.
Engaging international audiences
Speculation has recently emerged about the possibility of staging the PSL 11 final overseas to engage international audiences.
Responding to a question about hosting fixtures abroad, Naseer said the matter was under review, noting the growing interest in the league beyond Pakistan.
“The schedule will be announced later this week, so everything will become clear. But definitely, this was an issue under consideration — that our overseas Pakistanis also want to enjoy the PSL and experience it,” Naseer said.
“Now, as we are becoming a global league, maybe we should take at least one match overseas. Whether that will happen this year or next year, you will get clarity by the end of this week,” he added.
