ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United’s Salman Ali Agha has responded to recent speculation regarding his absence from the team’s playing XI in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025).

The absence of Pakistan’s T20 captain had raised concerns among supporters. However, Salman clarified that he had not been dropped, but was instead recovering from an injury.

“I was injured, but I’m feeling much better now. I resumed training after ten days. I’ve seen people suggesting I’ve been dropped—no need to worry, Islamabad hasn’t dropped me,” Salman stated, dispelling rumours about his omission.

Team ethos

Salman Ali Agha has featured in only two matches for Islamabad United this season and has not appeared in the playing XI since, which prompted questions from fans and pundits.

Nevertheless, he maintains that his exclusion is due to fitness reasons rather than selection decisions.

Commenting on Islamabad United’s team ethos, Salman commended the franchise for its culture and values.

“When we visit other countries and speak of having a model setup, we already have one here. It’s not just because I play for this team— even before I was part of it, I heard the same things. Now that I’m captain, I’ll certainly strive to uphold and implement those standards,” he said.
