SAN FRANCISCO: An American cloud-based software company, Salesforce Inc, on Tuesday, said it was working with ChatGPT developer OpenAI to add the artificial intelligence chatbot sensation to its partnership software Slack and bring generative artificial intelligence to its business software generally.

The San Francisco-based company said the technology it calls Einstein GPT would combine its proprietary AI with outside partners, including OpenAI, to support businesses in generating computer code, email drafts, and customer-account information.

ChatGPT also would integrate with Slack to assist users to summarize conversation threads and handle several other queries.

The move reflects a race between technology companies to outfit their tools with generative artificial intelligence, which can create new imagery, text, and other content based on inputs from the past data.

ChatGPT reimagining companies’ engagements with customers

For instance, Microsoft Corp has announced that technology from OpenAI – a company in which it is investing – can generate meeting notes in its product Teams and suggest email replies to vendors through its Viva Sales subscription.

In a press briefing, a general manager at Salesforce, Clara Shih, said that the announcement responded to demand by companies and businesses for the nascent technology. She said proprietary data of Salesforce and AI models would help differentiate its offering.

The general manager said that the generative AI tools of Salesforce would help companies completely reimagine how they engage with their customers.

Meanwhile, Salesforce also announced a fund to invest in generative AI startups.
