Sain Akhtar Hussain: 36th Death Anniversary Being Observed Today

LAHORE: The 36th death anniversary of renowned famous folk singer Sain Akhtar Hussain — born in Amritsar in 1920 — is being observed today (Friday).

Sain Akhtar Hussain was a folk singer and mostly sang Kafies and other folk songs on Urs of the holy Saints. He performed in the Pakistani film industry, Radio Pakistan and Television as well.

Akhtar was best known for his popular Allap in the evergreen song “Dil Deta Hay Ro Ro Duhai, Kisi Say Koi Pyar Na Karay.”

Some of his popular songs were “Na Milta Gar Yeh Tauba Ka Sahara,” “Daata Meray, Jholi Bhar Day,” “Sathi, Tera Mera Sathi Hay Lehrata Sumandar,” “Lal Meri Patt Rakhio Bala.”

He was decorated with the Pride of Performance Award. Sain Akhtar Hussain died on this date in 1987 in Lahore.
