ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel on Monday declared promising opening batter Saim Ayub as fully fit and is set to rejoin Peshawar Zalmi ahead of the Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL 10), scheduled to begin on 11 April 2025.
According to the PCB, Ayub, who had been sidelined since January due to an ankle fracture sustained during the Test series against South Africa, has successfully completed his rehabilitation.
The young left-hander underwent an extensive recovery programme in London over the past month, where he engaged in physiotherapy and specialised training, including balancing drills such as single-leg squats, tightrope walks, and single-leg jumps.
A PCB official confirmed, “Saim Ayub has cleared all fitness assessments and has been declared match-fit by the medical panel.”
After completing his rehabilitation, Ayub returned to Pakistan ahead of Eid and celebrated the festival with his family in Karachi.
He later travelled to Lahore and is now set to join the Peshawar Zalmi camp along with wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris.
The news comes as a major boost for Peshawar Zalmi, who will begin their PSL 10 campaign against Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, 12 April, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, the franchise has already welcomed several local and international players, including Max Bryant, Najibullah Zadran, Mehran Mumtaz, Maaz Sadat, Abdul Samad, Arif Yaqoob, and Ali Raza.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam, who is currently returning from national duty in New Zealand, is expected to join the squad later this week.
Ayub’s injury had earlier ruled him out of key international assignments, including the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 and Pakistan’s recent tour of New Zealand.
PSL 10 will feature six teams competing across four venues—Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. A total of 34 matches will be played from 11 April to 18 May, with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium hosting 13 games, including both Eliminators and the grand final.
The tournament will open with a marquee clash between defending champions Islamabad United and two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
