ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United batter Sahibzada Farhan struck his maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) century – and his fourth T20I ton in just 30 days – during Monday’s PSL 10 clash against Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi.
Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan won the toss and opted to bat first.
Farhan, who was picked in the Supplementary category just days before the start of PSL 2025 after going unsold in January’s draft, opened the innings alongside USA’s Andries Gous.
Following Gous’ early dismissal via a run out in the second over, Farhan shared a mammoth 144-run partnership with Colin Munro for the second wicket.
He brought up his sixth T20 century – and first in the PSL – off just 49 balls, reaching the milestone on the first delivery of the 13th over.
Scoring form continues
Unfortunately, his innings came to an end in the following over, dismissed by Alzarri Joseph for a brilliant 106 off 52 balls.
His explosive knock, featuring 13 fours and five sixes, came at a staggering strike rate of 203.84. Islamabad United went on to post an imposing 243-5 in their 20 overs.
This century marks Farhan’s fourth T20 hundred in a single month. The 29-year-old right-hander had previously smashed three centuries in the National T20 Cup, where he amassed a record-breaking 605 runs at an average of 121 and an eye-watering strike rate of 190.
His blistering form earned him a last-minute PSL call-up. He now boasts six T20 centuries, averaging 35.11 and striking at 137.11.

Farhan’s international record
Despite his domestic dominance, Farhan has yet to make a significant impact on the international stage.
He has represented Pakistan in nine T20 Internationals, scoring just 86 runs at a strike rate of 95.55.
He made his T20I debut in 2018, with his most recent appearance coming late last year against Zimbabwe, according to Wisden.
Farhan’s PSL journey has also been inconsistent. He made his debut for Islamabad United in 2018, staying with the side until 2019.
He later had brief stints with Karachi Kings in 2022 and Lahore Qalandars in 2024, but none proved particularly successful.
Now back with Islamabad United and in a completely different mindset as a T20 batter, Farhan appears ready to finally make his mark in the PSL.
