COLOMBO: Pakistan’s dominant 32-run victory over United States of America (USA) at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) here on Tuesday was marked by two significant individual milestones, highlighting the blend of experience and emerging talent within the squad.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan joined an elite batting club, while pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi celebrated a major career landmark.
Farhan enters the 1000-run club with a six
The 29-year-old opening batter, Sahibzada Farhan, imprinted his name into Pakistan’s T20I history books during his match-winning innings. Entering the game with 969 runs, he reached the 1,000-run milestone in style by launching spinner Milind Kumar for a massive six in the fifth over.

With this achievement, Farhan became only the 10th Pakistani batter to score 1000 runs in men’s T20Is. He now finds himself in the esteemed company of legends and contemporaries like Babar Azam (4520 runs), Mohammad Rizwan (3414 runs), and Shahid Afridi (1405 runs). His knock of 73 off 41 balls was pivotal in setting up Pakistan’s formidable total of 190/9.
Shaheen Shah Afridi celebrates 100 T20I Appearances
In the same fixture, left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi marked a significant career milestone by playing his 100th T20 International for Pakistan.

Having made his debut in 2018, the 25-year-old became just the seventh Pakistani player to reach the century mark in T20Is, joining an illustrious list featuring Babar Azam (141* matches) and Shoaib Malik (123 matches).
Earlier, ahead of the match, fellow pacer Naseem Shah presented Shaheen with a special commemorative cap in recognition of his service. In his 99 previous T20Is, Shaheen has established himself as a strike bowler, claiming 129 wickets at an impressive average of 21.34.
Milestones within a crucial victory
While both players celebrated personal achievements, their focus remained on the team’s success. Farhan’s explosive batting provided the foundation for the innings, and Shaheen contributed with a quick nine runs off four balls and took a wicket.
